Scanning Over-sized Documents

  1. Make sure the Epson scanner is turned on. The power button can be located on the bottom left of the front of the machine.
  2. Lift the cover of the scanner and place your document face down on the glass. Make sure to align the top left corner of your document to the aligning point
  3. Double click the EPSON Epson Scan 2 icon on the desktoptoolbar 
  4. For documents, use these settings:
    1. Mode - Document Mode
    2. Image Type - Color, Grayscale, or Black & White, depending on the document
    3. Resolution - For a photo to be used in Powerpoint or Web, use 300dpi. For a photo for archival purposes or book publications, use 1200dpi.
  5. For photos, use these settings:
    1. Mode - Photo Mode
    2. Document type - Reflective
    3. Image type - Color, Grayscale, or Black & white, depending on the photo
    Double-check these settings. Pay special attention to the resolution option: 
    1. Mode - Professional Mode
    2. Document Type - Reflective
    3. Image Type - 24-bit Color (8-bit Grayscale if you want black and white)
    4. Resolution - For a photo to be used in Powerpoint or Web, use 200dpiuse 300dpi. For a photo for archival purposes or book publications, use 600dpi.
    5. Make sure “Thumbnail” is unchecked.
     
  6. Click the File Save Settings icon (boxed by blue in the screenshot).
    1. use 1200dpi. 
  7. Double check these settings:
    1. File Location – Other: SAVEWORKHERE
    2. Image Format – For a photo to be used in Powerpoint or Web, use JPEG. For a photo for archival purposes or book publications, use TIFF. Alternatively, you may use the PDF format if you like.
  8. Click Preview to see image before scanning. If you wish to scan only part of the photo, drag your cursor to create a selection box around the area you want.
  9. Click Scan.
