1. SCORES WITH PARTS
Parts that accompany scores are individually marked and placed in an acid-free envelope. The envelope is then inserted in the center of the score and sent to In-house binding for mounting in a pamphlet binder.
2. SCORES WITHOUT PARTS
2.1 In-house binding
Most scores can be sent for In-house pamphlet binding. Scores that are either stapled or sewn and are less than ¼ in. thick are placed with the barcode and any appropriate flags affixed to the title page with a large paper clip and placed on the Repair Shelf by the marking table.
2.2 Commercially bound scores
Piano music (solo or chamber), vocal music and vocal scores, and some orchestral scores which cannot be pamphlet bound are sent out for commercial binding (see Binding Guidelines for Paperbacks and Scores, Section VIII, Chapter I). Piggyback barcodes are affixed to the title page of scores going to the commercial bindery.
Scores which go directly to the Marking Table have the barcode affixed to the inside back cover.
