You can disable the Start screen in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

When you open an office 2016 program, a start screen automatically displays showing you the various templates available and a list of recent documents opened in the left column.  If you find this screen annoying, you can easily disable it.

  1. Go to the File Menu in Word and select Options.

     2.  Under the General option, uncheck the box next to “Show the Start screen when the applications starts” and click OK.
