This position focuses on describing and processing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) materials. Core functions include:
- Original and complex copy cataloging. The role should prioritize East Asian langauge materials, moving images, and handle more general materials as time permits.
- Specialized language cataloging, selecting/ordering. In addition to cataloging, this role works with selecting librarians to consult on collection development issues and selection/ordering of materials. This may include communicating with vendors.
- Use of cataloging tools and standards. This role should utilize tools of the cataloging trade including OCLC Connexion, Alma, ClassWeb, MarcEdit, etc. and adhere to local and generally accepted global standards for cataloging.
- Provides technical advice to other staff as needed. Including assisting department colleagues with questions regarding material of expertise or general cataloging guidance.
