1. Insert the DVD into the DVD drive
  2. Open Handbrake 
  3. Choose the DVD you wish to import and click Open.
  4. To make sure you have selected the right file, click "Preview Window".  This will show you 10 still images from the title. 
  5. Choose the destination folder and name for your import.
  6. Choose a video codec.  H.264 is one of the most commonly used codecs for use on computers and burning to DVD's.  


    You can also click the "toggle presets"  button at the top right and select specific devices for importing video files that are compatible with them.  You will get a side panel that looks like this:  
     
  7. Once you have set your codecs or chosen a preset, press Start to being ripping the DVD to the computer.  You can also choose "Add to Queue" if there are multiple different videos you wish to import from the same disc.  This will allow you to set up each different video to import on its own, but will run the imports all at once instead of individually.  This can save a lot of time if you are importing many videos from the same disc.
