Export to CAD

Before exporting to CAD, make sure everything is in the same projection to ensure that it will display properly in CAD.

  1. Right click a feature class in the content pane, then click the properties. Then in the source tab, expand the spatial reference.
  2. Check that the projection coordinate system is NAD 1983 StatePlane Texas S Central FIPS 4204.
  3. Do steps 1-2 for every feature class included in your map.

Also, be sure you’ve clipped your file to your area of interest or the conversion to a CAD file will take a long time and you will end up with a large file.
You are now ready to export to CAD.

  4. In the analysis tab, search in the tool for Export to CAD.
  5. Drag your desired layers into the ‘Input Features’ box, then specify the location and name of your ‘Output File’ (avoid using spaces) and click OK.

Please note that you will lose all attribute tables associated with the file. If you want to preserve a certain attribute, you can symbolize that attribute, export to Illustrator, and then perform a Color Match in Illustrator.
