Windows XP/2000

  1. Find the Command Prompt Window under "Start" and then "Programs" and finally "Accessories".

Run ipconfig/all from a Command Prompt window.
(click Start, then Run, then type cmd in the text box.)


  1. Type in ipconfig/all in the Command Prompt Windows, and press Enter.
    The 12-digit Physical Address is the same as MAC address

Mac OSX

  1. Click on the Apple.

  2. Click on About this Mac.

  3. Click More Info.

  4. Click Network.

  5. In the top panel choose the appropriate device (AirPort if a wireless problem or Ethernet for a wired problem).

  6. In the bottom panel, scroll down to MAC Address.

  7. Copy the MAC address and paste the text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.
