IT will be updating the software for DNS lookups* on Friday morning between 7:00 and 7:15 AM. There will be no service outage during this update.
*Translation: A DNS lookup refers to the process of matching the digital, Internet Protocal (IP) address of a computer or server (example 128.000.11.222) to its host name (rice.edu). Most people type in the host name because it is easier to remember, then their local server translates the host name to the digital IP address, which can the be served up on the customer's web browser.
