Pal and NTSC are differently video standards. Learn how to convert your VHS from the less common PAL format into a more useful and compatible NTSC DVD.
Setting up the cables
Video:
Silver JVC Hi-Fi Multi A2/Nicam Digital Stereo -> Worldtop Digital Video Convertor System -> Black Sony Dubbing Station -> Samsung TV Screen
- Connect the single yellow cable from the Silver JVC VIDEO OUT to the Convertor system VIDEO IN.
- Connect the other single yellow cable from the Convertor system VIDEO OUT to the Black Sony LINE 1 IN VIDEO.
- Connect the red, white, and yellow cables from the Black Sony LINE OUT to the TV Screen AV IN.
Audio:
Silver JVC Hi-Fi Multi A2/Nicam Digital Stereo -> Black Sony Dubbing Station -> Samsung TV Screen
- Connect red and white cables from Silver JVC AUDIO OUT into the Black Sony LINE 1 IN AUDIO.
- Double check as in step 3 of Video connection that the red, white and yellow cables are connected from the Black Sony LINE OUT to the TV Screen AV IN.
Converting
- Turn on TV Screen by pressing the power sensor on the bottom right hand corner.
- Turn on the Digital Convertor with the switch on the backside. Press the INPUT SWITCH button until the red light is on PAL input, and the OUTPUT SWITCH until the NTSC output is lit red.
- Insert your VHS into the JVC and pause the tape to the moment you want to start recording.
- Insert your blank DVD into the Sony
- Lower the latch on the bottom half of the Sony and under “Select” make sure DVD is selected. On the digital screen, you should see DVD with a white rectangular outline on the left-hand side.
To select the proper DVD recording quality, use the remote, follow this table, and choose the right quality:

- Press record on the Sony, and then press the play button on the JVC.
- You should see your video playing. It will convert in real time.
