Connect an android device to Rice WIFI network.

Android is an open-source system that can be modified by manufacturers. The functions below will vary, depending on the make, model, and version of the Android OS installed on your device. The instructions below are accurate for most Android devices.

  • Select "Wi-fi" on the settings page.
  • Make sure that Wi-fi is Enabled, in order to see Rice Owls. Click on Rice Owls and make sure the settings are:
  • EAP Method: PEAP
    Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    CA certificate: Use systemCert
  • Domain: admin-n1.ise.rice.edu --
We have been informed (this has not been tested) that the domain setting on Android 11 and up should be: rice.edu
  • Make sure to update the privacy setting on the phone:
MAC address type => Phone MAC
  • In the field called "Identity" type your NetID. In the field for the password, type your NetID password
  • Click connect and you should see that the network has connected successfully.
If you are still unable to connect after following these steps, please try forgetting the network and re-adding it.
