10:00 a.m. – A talk by Dr. Robert “Bob” Roush, Baylor College of Medicine – Huffington Center on Aging. The topic is “Aging Houstonians”, with advice on aging well.

Premier of the film “Particle Fever” at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, with introduction from Rice’s Bonner Lab faculty. This will be an evening outing. The film is at 6 pm at the Imax theater of the museum. There will be a refreshment table at the lobby for our members. The film tickets are $8 for our group. Please RSVP to facultywomensclubboard@rice.edu.  The museum has offered to reserve seats for us at the top row, for those wishing to avoid the IMAX theater stairs.

Susan Miller MD, MPH, FACP, will discuss the origins, epidemiology and cultural ramifications surrounding the trafficking of women and children, and describe the business model which sustains this form of modern day slavery. Dr. Miller is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine, Weill Medical College, Cornell University. She is also the Deputy Chief in the Department of Family Medicine at The Methodist Hospital and an Associate Professor in the Center for Ethics and Health Policy, Baylor College of Medicine and in the Houston Methodist Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Miller is currently the Chair of the Institutional Review Board of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute and is the Director of the Chao Program for International Research Ethics.
