Section VII, Chapter D

Call Numbers for Sound Recordings

1.  INTRODUCTION

Compact discs are the predominant type of sound recording collected by Fondren Library.  The collection includes LPs, cassette and reel-to-reel tapes, and 78s but these are mostly obsolete media.  Call numbers for sound recordings of music are entered in the Sirsi class scheme ASIS.

...

Sound recordings of non-musical performances, e.g., books on tape, spoken recordings of plays, poetry, etc., and CDs of musical performances accompanying a monograph receive their call numbers according to LC classification practices.
