  1. Right-click the Start Menu and select Control Panel

  5. Select Manual Setup or additional server types.

  8. Enter your email address.  Click on Advanced options and check the box next to Let me set up my account manually, then click Connect.

  10. Perform the following on this screen, then click Next.
    • In the Incoming Mail Server field, enter imap.mail.rice.edu
    • In the Port field, enter 993
    • In the Encryption method drop-down menu, select SSL/TLS for the incoming mail server
    • the Your Name field, enter your name.
    • In the E-mail Address field, enter your Rice e-mail address.
    • In the Account Type drop-down menu, select IMAP.
    • In the Incoming mail server field, enter imap.mail.rice.edu.
    • In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, enter in the Outgoing Mail Server field, enter smtp.mail.rice.edu
    • In the Port field, enter 465
    • In the Encryption method drop-down menu, select SSL/TLS for the outgoing mail server as well.

    • In the User Name field, enter your netID. "netID" being your personally assigned Rice username.
    • In the Password field, enter your Rice password.
    • Make sure Remember Password is checked.
    • Make sure Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is unchecked.
    • When you are sure everything is correct, click More Settings

  11. In the General tab:
    • In the Reply E-mail field, enter your Rice e-mail address
    • When finished, click the tab for Outgoing Server

  12.   Check the box next to My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

  13. Enter your password, then click Connect.
  14. Enter your NetID in the User Name field (note netid only.  Not the full email address). then click OK.



  15. Click OK.
