RECEIVING WRC MATERIALS IN CATALOGING

Woodson Research Center staff generally delivers materials directly to Cataloging.

For any deliveries other than single, unrelated titles, the Woodson staff member provides a checklist.  Each week, when materials are processed, the designated Senior Copy Cataloger checks delivered titles against provided checklists to make sure every item on the list is received.  If there is a discrepancy, the cataloger informs WRC staff immediately.

All non-RUSH materials from WRC are placed at a marked location in Cataloging.  If necessary, specific written instructions are written on a white flag (“keep as copy 2 in WRC” or “order record/payment needed”).  An invoice with fund code is provided when applicable.

RUSH items, including items requiring immediate payment, are taken to the Senior Copy Cataloger with primary responsibility for WRC materials.  When that cataloger is absent, RUSH items are taken to the Copy Cataloger responsible for gifts processing.

Every Friday the Senior Copy Cataloger with primary responsibility for WRC materials (or when that cataloger is absent, the Copy Cataloger responsible for gifts) checks the WRC shelf, creates provisional records, and distributes materials appropriately.
