Editing Pre-ISBD Copy
1. PRE-ISBD COPY
Both Library of Congress and member pre-ISBD copy are processed by senior members of the Copy Catalogers or by the Original Cataloger.
2. DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGING
Catalogers may decide on a case-by-case basis to leave descriptive cataloging for pre-ISBD items as is or to change it to current cataloging practice. If any of the descriptive fields is changed to current form, all fields should be changed.
3. VERIFICATION OF HEADINGS AND CLASSIFICATION
* *Pre-ISBD copy often contains obsolete forms of names, subject headings, and LC classification. All names, subjects, and classification should be verified for validity according to current LC practice.
