Local Standards and Practices
We will not be retroactively upgrading AACR1 or AACR2 records to RDA.
A project is in progress to determine which RDA tags should be indexed and displayed in the OPAC.
Bibliographic records
Starting August 19, 2013, all original cataloging will follow RDA specifications. All upgrades of minimal-level OCLC records will also follow RDA specifications.
Copy cataloging procedures are unchanged until further notice. OCLC RDA records can be imported "as is". Any RDA tags should be left unchanged. As of today, roughly 30% of the newly imported OCLC records are coded in RDA.
Authority records
Keith will create name authority records in RDA for the NACO Music Funnel project.
We are currently working with Fondren IT, to evaluate the impact of the new RDA authority records. We are checking to see if the Sirsi auto-flip function will work effectively with the new records and what kind of manual corrections will be needed.
