PROCESSING ELECTRONIC RESOURCES

Diskettes and CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs do not have call number written on, but are accompanied by a white flag with:

                        location

                        call number

The call number is penciled on any printed guide or accompanying material that fits inside the case and circulates with the diskette or CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.

MARC holdings records are not made for multiple-diskette or -disc computer files in one container; piece count reflects total number of diskettes or CD-ROMS or DVD-ROMs, plus any printed guide in container.

Dot label on jewel case enumerates contents if case contains guide or multiple CD-ROMs or DVD-ROMs (“+guide”, “2 discs”, etc) to alert Circulation staff.

Circular RU Library label is affixed to upper surface of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.

Barcode CD-ROMs or DVD-ROMs on lower right front corner of jewel box or other container.

Discs shelved in Reserve are placed in jewel cases.

When the software includes an installation disc or diskette, the disc or diskette is copied in Technical Services and the original disc or diskette is stored in Technical Services, while the copy is sent with the other software to its designated location.

For electronic serials and non-NetLibrary e-books, a printout of the bibliographical record on Sirsi will be made and given to the Sets Cataloger for periodic checking of the URL.  The Sets Cataloger checks the URL on Webcat, bookmarks the URL, and periodically runs the URL checker software against his/her bookmarks.
