New books going to LSC-SPECL or LSC-WRC will be cataloged to those locations, which will be included as part of the call number. The call number and barcode go on the acid-free flag. The call number will also be written on the verso of the title page. After marking, they will come to DBM, where they will be charged to LSC-INPROC. Occasionally, the Art Librarian will bring a book from the Fine Arts collection to be sent to LSC-SPECL These may already have call number labels and barcodes affixed to the book. Charge them to LSC-INPROC.

New books going to LSC, LSC-SPECL, or LSC-WRC that need to be repaired, boxed, or bound will be cataloged as stated above. The cataloger will place the item, with the appropriate flag, and, if necessary, a note explaining what should be done to the item, on the Repair shelf. When the book is repaired/bound, it will go to the Marking Table, then to DBM to be charged to LSC-INPROC.

LSC Flags (not the ones used by catalogers) are placed in each volume that goes on the DBM LSC shelf. This tells the LSC staff which location to put it in. There are four flags, located on DBM LSC shelf: LSC/FL is for regular books. Specl/UC is for LSC-SPECL books. LSC-WRC is for WRC books, and is rarely used. Most WRC books are charged out by the LSC staff in WRC. Refiles are for books that are already in the LSC system. They may have been sent back to Fondren for repair or binding. You can usually identify these because the Home and Current locations are both LSC, and the original barcode is stuck on the title page. These are NOT to be charged out, since they have already been accessioned by LSC.
