The Club was founded in 1921. Despite the persistent legend, it was never called the "Faculty Wives Club", since from its inceptions accepted as members women staff and spouses od staff. It was called the "Faculty Women's Club" until its 95th year, 2016. A copy of Recollections from the History of the Women's Club contains a fascinating insight into the early days of the Club.
