PROCESSING VISUAL MATERIALS
Visual materials do not have call numbers penciled on but are accompanied by white flag with:
location
call number
“Non-standard format” if a videocassette or DVD requires special viewing equipment
Videocassettes are shelved in plastic cases. Extra cases are located in the Technical Services meeting room supply cabinet.
DVDs can remain in their original container if it is sturdy and protects the DVD. Additional plastic cases are located in the supply cabinets over the sink in Technical Services, or in the Technical Services conference room supply cabinet.
The barcode is placed on the front of the videocassette or DVD case, centered toward the bottom right. If there is a clear protective cover over the video case, the barcode is placed between the case and the clear cover, for protection.
A printed guide that fits inside the case and can be circulated with the recording has the call number and control number penciled on and is reflected in the piece count. A guide that is separate from the videorecording or is for more than one videorecording has a separate item record and barcode.
Videorecordings are placed on the shelf near the marking table.
